Children's Literature

If you have not seen the movie (and I have not), then this book will be one you will want to pass up. If you are (or have) the kind of child who has to have every commercial offshoot of a favorite movie, then adding this inexpensive recap of the high points of the movie is a harmless investment. Told in a tabloid-like layout with giant (no pun intended) headlines, the reader gets the gist of the plot, with an ending that promises sequels-to-come. As one who has not seen the movie, I am left with a few lingering questions after reading this book: How is it that an Insectosaurus (a giant grub) is covered with fur? Where did the giant alien robot come from? Can the adults in this book be any more shallow? Do kids get all the humor clearly aimed at adults? Reviewer: Maggie Chase
