Padraic Colum was an Irish poet, dramatist, novelist, and biographer known to be one of the leading figures in the Celtic Revival. In 1916 Colum wrote The King of Ireland's Son which was his first children's book. This book later received a Nubery honor. The hero is the youngest son of the King of Ireland. He has many adventures finding and winning the hand of Fedelma the daughter of an Enchanter. Fedelma is kidnapped by the king of the Land of Mist. The plot of The King of Ireland's Son is based on an old Irish folktale.
Chronicles the adventures of the King of Ireland's eldest and wildest son, describing how he encounters an enchanter's daughter, the king of the cats, Gilly of the goat-skin, and numerous others.
