Outrageous book for the first time someone into negative painting.
first chapter is basic traditional knowledge. Have a warm up by testing staining, granulating, opaque, etc for getting know of your own tools (as maybe someone not used or don't know the point of testing colors)
Watercolor might be very challenging for beginner, for the spontaneous fluidity and it can be uncontrolable. This book teaches how to "fix" it too!
The book grinds with deliberate practices. how you improve visual perception, as it's necessary for negative painting.
It gives critical feedbacks and thoughts with comparisons, what could be better.
One thing i love is how the book provides composition knowledge that's not really wide-described. "take your viewer on journey!"
