The Green Men of Gressingham Book

This book is about Tom Dashwood who is very excited to be going to train as a page in his uncle's Lord Dashwood's castle. However, Tom does not make it that far before he is kidnapped along with Able Morris (who is in charge of taking him to the castle) by Green Men of Gressingham, some very odd outlaws. They have some worrying news for Tom about his uncle, as they believe he is treating people unfairly by charging excessive amounts of taxes and if they are unable to pay are sent into the dungeon in the castle. He has always been told his uncle is a nice person but starts to wonder if it is true when Max turns up to where he is kidnapped bruised and upset that his daughter Gee-Gee has been put in the dungeon. Eventually, Tom escapes the Green Men of Gressingham and enters the castle and finds out that his uncle is not very well and lets Marshal Guppy rule the castle. Tom discovers that Marshal Guppy is charging people unfair taxes and keeping the money for himself, he then tells his uncle. In the end Marshal Guppy tries to escape but gets caught by Robyn the captain of the Green Men of Gressingham and saves the day. This book was really interesting to read and gave a nice twist to Robin Hood. I liked the suspense of not knowing if the uncle was a bad person or not, it kept me wanting to read without stopping. I think this book would be good for children aged 6-7 for independent reading and for literacy. It is also aimed for children who have dyslexia.
