Nothing is more fun than a walk in the woods on a sunny spring day. Abby and her dog Kirby get up early every Saturday to explore the hills above the river, but they don't always see things quite the same.
Abby likes to smell the lovely spring flowers.
Kirby likes to chase small animals.

Kirby loves to dig in the dirt.

Love this book for many reasons, but mostly because Kirby is a Boston Terrier. (or a Frenchie, but either one is top dog in my world).
I used this book to introduce my 8th graders to our compare/contrast writing unit. We watch a video of the book while we filled out a Venn Diagram making note of Abby and Kirby's experience as they walk through the woods.
It is a fantastic book to get the kids to do a close reading, work with graphic organizers, find similarities and differences withing a text, make inferences, make text to life connections...this book is a wonderful teaching to in so many different ways.
Thank you Charity Nebbe. I would like to purchase the book online, but every store has it on sale for something like $75.00. I must be doing something wrong. I'll figure it out because I am definitely adding this fantastic book to my personal library!
