If the Shoe Fits
Here's the basic plot: Cassie loves to dance, but she's shy about performing in public. She gives her mom the excuse that she needs new shoes. Instead her mom helps her dig a second hand pair from the cupboard at school. And OF COURSE, they just happen to belong to the dancer Cassie idolizes. And OF COURSE, it just happens that she went to the same school. And OF COURSE, after a detour to help another kid with a stage fright crisis, Cassie dances beautifully.
And OF COURSE, the dancer she idolizes is there, is the school's patron and is going to teach the "show troop" next term. And OF COURSE, she raves about Cassie's dancing and assures her she will be in the show troop.
And OF COURSE, if you can't tell by now, I found this to be right up there with the Berenstain Bears in terms of its literary quality and plot predictability.
