This new edition includes the same adorable bunnies and cheerful art from Grumpy Bunnies with revised text that follows the bunnie's changing moods throughout the day.
When Easter is but a hip-hop away, bunny books are as bountiful as well rabbits. Grumbly Bunnies is one of my favorites. It is nice to have a crabby critter once in a while to leaven all that perk-eared charm. As with many a kid (and adult), the morning is off to a "stumble bumbling" start for three fuzzy siblings. They face "lumpy oatmeal" and a bumpy bus ride before arriving grouchily at school. Author Willy Welch conveys with good humor the best way to handle such a day: Sometimes you just have to ride it out, enjoying the highs (playground fun and "huggy" mommies) but relieved at bedtime that "there's another day ahead." Tammie Lyon's colorful watercolors capture a range of expressions from grogginess to annoyance to cheeriness. The book demonstrates, without preaching, that it is okay to feel crotchety and disappointed as well as bright-eyed and fluffy-tailed. Available in both paperback and board book.
