Virginia E. Lang is a development professional, educator, writer, and mother. In her former work as chief executive officer of the Children's Hospital of San Francisco Foundation, she combined creative writing with promotional and fund-raising publications.

Louise B. Nayer is an accomplished poet and also a mother and wife with a diverse spiritual background. Half Jewish, she was raised as an Episcopalian and, as an adult, became a Unitarian. She holds a master's degree in creative writing from the State University of New York at Buffalo and is a professor of English at City College in San Francisco.
