In this autobiographical account, Minton (1919-1999) tells of his boyhood in Indiana, and his early interest in reptiles and amphibians. The story then traces his life through college, the military, travels abroad, and a career as a doctor. Throughout, his efforts as an herpetologist—his collection and study of reptiles from around the world, and his contributions to the scholarship in the field—are highlighted. Vignettes are provided by seven people who knew Minton, and numerous black and white photographs are featured. No index.
