Cornelia Peake McDonald kept a detailed diary of events at home while her husband went off to fight in the Civil War. If you ever wondered what life was like at home during that struggle, for American living under what they considered to be "occupation" this book will detail exactly what it was like. For history buffs, this is a fabulous treasure trove of information, if at times a bit whiny.
