Journey Among Warriors is the biography of an unusual Marine. The story is far-ranging. It reveals the origins of combat techniques using helicopters, amphibian tractors, and riverine forces. It also addresses strategic planning, nuclear weapons, and the workings of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. But, its greater weight is on politico-military affairs, notably in Haiti, in Southeast Asia, at the time American involvement intensified, and in Africa as it began to fragment into independent states.
