Profiles of Rafinesque
I first read, and was enchanted by, Gilbert White's The Natural History of Selborne many years ago. I have visited Selborne itself, too, so I was specially intrigued to read this book. Richard Mabey is a wonderful writer with a deep sympathy for nature - the ideal biographer for the great man. I enjoyed every word, and came away feeling I'd had a glimpse into the mind of a genius nature-lover.
Heartily recommended.
