Journey toward God
This is an excellent anthology of quotations from Christian writers from the Church Fathers up to more contemporary writers and it's unusual in its inclusion of Catholic, Orthodox and Protestant writers. Groeschel's commentary is really good -- sometimes even better than the selections he chooses from other writers on a particular topic.
He covers the three-fold spiritual journey as described in the classic Christian tradition: (1) Conversion/ purification (purgation); (2) Illumination; (3) Union with God, and subdivides those (including a chapter on The Illuminative Way Part I: Love of Neighbor; and The Illuminative Way Part II: Love of God); he also includes chapters such as "Hope and Trust in Darkness," "Grief and Contradiction," and "Mature Faith," concluding with chapters on "Prayer" and "Devotion."
I'd recommend this to anyone as a devotional or as a preaching resource.
