The study of hadrons unites a variety of theoretical approaches, ranging from low-energy QCD dynamics, chiral perturbation theory, and meson and baryon phenomenology, to the effects of hot and dense nuclear matter. Fruitful crosslinks between these topics had become clear in the recent past. These proceedings form a coherent overview of the actual state of low-energy hadron physics.
Contains the 40 papers presented at the September 1999 workshop on hadron physics of low energy quantum chromodynamics (QCD). The main subjects are baryons, approaches to QCD, chiral perturbation theory, effects of hot and dense nuclear matter, and mesons. Among the topics are computation of the nucleon properties in the chiral quark model, a renormalizaiton-group treatment of two-body scattering, two-loop calculations in HCPT, matter-induced hadronic processes, first radical excitations of scalar meson nonets, and strong decays of the scalar glueball in a confining effective Langrangian of QCD.
