This is clearly not a textbook, and the work assumes familiarity with psychometric testing. Its brilliant bibliographic essays on psychometric testing in older persons, including material on how to measure competency, make it essential for any medical or reference library. The chapters on measuring competency, of counseling older persons and their caregivers, and how psychometric testing fits into the assessment process more generally are all excellent.
