Omar loves drawing pictures and wishes he could be as good at it as his classmate Elsie. But his teacher, Ms. Fudge, can never figure out what Omar's pictures are- no matter how hard she tries.
When the whole class goes ice-skating, however, Omar's true talent emerges. He shows Elsie how he can glide and whirl and spin.
After all, it's easy when you don't worry and just have fun. And the whole class discovers with Omar that there is more than one way to draw pictures.
Omar dreams of being a great artist, but his teacher Ms. Fudge can't make out what any of his pictures are supposed to be. Frustrated by what he perceives as a lack of talent, Omar decides not go skating that day. His friends urge him to take to the ice, for he is considered the best skater in the class. Omar tells his friends that skating is easy when you have fun and don't worry about it. He begins to skate, and soon Omar is having so much fun he forgets all about being a bad artist. When he stops skating, the children see all the beautiful ice pictures Omar drew on the ice with his skates. Omar is an artist, after all! This engaging story can be used to help children see they have many talents and that there are many different ways to fulfill your dreams.
