The thesis of this book is that there is a syndrome in social science that we call the Thermidorian society, which is a sick society. Sick societies kill their own people. Thermidorian societies are a variant of a sick society, but a worse case scenario of it, because they do not consider their own borders as a limit to their violence. In this book, we work out the nature of Thermidorian society so that civilized international society - meaning those that do not want to kill their neighbors - will understand what they have to deal with into the 21st century, when they confront this phenomenon once more, as they have throughout the 20th century - a century of totalitarianism and terror.
