Down in the bayou country of Louisiana live six friends who love to go fishing in their pirogues. But-ma foi-these fishermen, they are very foolish fellows. Peppered with Cajun language as spicy as gumbo, this classic folktale is retold by award-winning storyteller Robert D. San Souci. The antics and misunderstandings of Jules, Jacques, Jean, Ti-Paul, Philippe, and Pierre are full of good humor and irresistible fun.
Robert D. San Souci is a speaker and author whose books have earned such designations as the New York Times Best Illustrated Children's Book of the Year, Caldecott Honor Book, and Coretta Scott King Honor Book. Many of his titles, including The Talking Eggs and Sukey and the Mermaid, have been selected for state and regional reading lists. San Souci lives in San Francisco, California.
Designer and illustrator Doug Kennedy has received numerous awards for his artwork. A Louisiana native, he holds a degree in graphic design from Louisiana Tech and is cofounder of the design firm Mojoware. He lives in Monroe, Louisiana.
