Shadows of Heroes Book

This book is not a novel. It is perhaps one of the most challenging approaches that have been made in recent years on the sensitive subject of torture, as it is centered on the personal testimonies of actual torture victims as they were recorded by an anti-torture doctor and a journalist - who also is the author of this book.

The book is an attempt to present both the current and timeless dimensions of torture across the world by recording testimonies of victims from the Middle East, Asia, North Africa, Europe, as well as North and South America.

The issues of impunity, the transfer of torture methods, the legal framework and the international treaties, asylum, the war against terrorism and the violation of human rights are only some of the issues that this book is attempting to present through testimonies and the recording of current affairs.

From Afghanistan to Guantanamo Bay, and from Iraq to the United States, the book is following step by step the events through testimonies, official records and news reports, revealing that way the complete and true picture of human rights worldwide.
