Justin is an unashamed nerd. Sloth by day and perpetually disengaged club DJ by night, he may or may not be the most brilliant undiscovered songwriter of his generation. Laurie is gawky, uneven, slightly off-balance. She is pretty, ditzy, clunky, clutzy: a massive, massive dork. She's been with her boyfriend for eight years but, in all honesty, doesn't really know what to make of things. Justin and Laurie have secretly loved each other since they were teenagers.
