Star Trek: The Manga, Volume 4 Book

This was lots of fun but nothing amazing. I enjoyed some stories more than others and I liked that they were all written and drawn by different people with different styles because you get a nice variety of stories, but, all in all, none of the stories blew me away or came close to being great Star Trek. I enjoyed it though. My ratings for every separate story:

*Side Effects by Chris Dows & Makoto Nakatsuka - 2/5 Stars
The weakest story in my opinion. Another Borg origin story that makes little sense, with lots of action that didn't enhance the story and the drawing style wasn't my favourite either

* Forging Alliances by Paul Benjamin & Steven Cummings - 2/5 Stars
This one wasn't horrible, but nothing remarkable. It was a take on Mowgli and a bit boring overall

* Art of War by Wil Wheaton & EJ Su - 4/5 Stars
By far the best written story (I have a soft sport for Wesley and Wil Wheaton in general) but it was honestly the only story that came close to being really great and actually have a good moral message like the best of Star Trek

* Orphans by Christine Boylan & EJ Su - 3/5 Stars
This story tried to merge manga stories with Star Trek stories (think huge flying robots in space) and it was more or less successful

* Communications Breakdown by Christine Boylan & Bettina Kurkoski - 2.5/5 Stars
Quite a boring story with Uhura as the main character but they don't really use her as much as they could have and it never makes sense why all her memories were wiped away

* The Humanitarian by Luis A. Reyes & Nate Watson - 3/5 Stars
The story itself was a bit meh (fairly simple and a bit boring political stuff that being done again and again in the show) but the drawing style really elevated it -- beautiful illustrations in this one

* 'til Death by Mike W. Barr & Jeong Mo Yang - 2/5 Stars
This story was too cartoony and rather horrible. Very few redeeming qualities and again a type of story that has been done to death in the show (particularly in the Next Generation)

* Bandi by David Gerrold & Don Hudson - 4/5 Stars
This story was by far the most fun out of them all and it was really good too. Written by the guy who wrote a trouble with tribbles it kind of serves as a sequel of sorts and it's a bit similar but yet very different. It was pure good old fun
