Rosa Parks: Civil Rights Activist Book

This book is a biography of Rosa Parks the civil Rights activists. The book describes how this legendary woman was able to stand up against racism and mistreatments of blacks. Rosa Parks inspired many black people to speak up for their rights in the 1955 after she refused to obey the law that asked that front bus seats are for whites only. Also this book not only tells Rosa Parks' life story, but it tells how black people were suffering from slavery, discrimination and brutality. However as the biography describes, Rosa Parks and other activists such as Martin Luther King Jr. inspired movements around the country to stop slavery and for black people to live free and enjoy quality. One of the famous movements to stop slavery was the bus boycott where thousands of African Americans were part of it. Thanks to people like Rosa Parks, slavery is now against the law and African Americans enjoy their freedom and their equal rights as any other citizen. Rosa Parks inspired people around the world as civil rights activists such as Nelson Mandela.

When I first saw Rosa Parks biography book, I wondered who the woman was and why was she part of the biography of Biracial Achievers. I also asked myself what she has done in her life that made her famous. Before reading the book, I had a question as well about her life actions if they were good or bad. However after reading the book I learned about Rosa Parks life and her fight against inequality and slavery. I believe that Rosa Parks was a great hero, because she stood up against the law that was unfair and brutal towards African Americans. She is a true hero since she put herself in trouble with the law to show the rest of the world and her people that blacks should not be treated with discrimination and should not be a difference between black and whites. What I really like about Rosa Parks is her strength to disobey a law that she thinks is not right. I also like her power of influence and inspiration that led to many other activists to follow her path and stand up against slavery and discrimination.

I recommend this book to 7th graders and up, because it is full of information about the history of slavery and the different movements and people that led to the freedom of African Americans. Rosa Parks biography is a good read to people that enjoy reading about history and learning about people that changed it. This book is also a good book whoever is interested in heroes that changed history. Rosa Parks biography is a good description of the civil rights movements in America and of the woman that started it. Thanks to Rosa story whoever will read this book will be inspired to always stand up for what is right and fair.
