Eyeshield 21, Volume 27: Seijuro Shin vs. Sena Kobayakawa
Eyeshield 21: Seijuro Shin vs. Sena Kobayakawa continues where the previous tankÅbon left off and contains the next nine chapters (233-241) of the on-going manga series.
This tankÅbon concludes the Kanto Tournament semi-finals match between Deimon Devil Bats and Ojo White Knights and covers the last four minutes of the second half. The Deimon Devil Bats are behind the Ojo White Knights by five points.
Within three minutes, Taro "Monta" Raimon managed to score a touchdown with an impossible one-hand catch and later a field goal, which give the Devil Bats a two-point lead. However, Seijuro Shin of the Ojo White Knights would not concede to defeat. With seventy seconds left in the game, Seijuro Shin managed to score a touchdown with one remaining second left on the clock, which gives the lead back to the White Knights by four points.
Despite looking bad for the Deimon Devil Bats, Sena Kobayakawa will not concede defeat. The Devil Bats have one play left if it connects and Sena Kobayakawa is determined to score. Fortunately, for them the play connects and the play is allowed to continue until it is stopped. Sena Kobayakawa manages to outrun the entire Ojo White Knight team - the only obstacle - Seijuro Shin. With great speed and fortitude, Sena Kobayakawa managed to score a touchdown.
With a score of 42-40, the Deimon Devil Bats managed to defeat the Ojo White Knights and advances to the Finals of the Kanto Tournament.
This tankÅbon is written by Riichiro Inagaki and illustrated by Yusuke Murata. For the most part, I really liked how the story is progressing, albeit it was a tad convoluted to have seven chapters dedicated to four minutes of a game, in which three touchdowns were scored. Regardless, the Deimon Devil Bats heads to the finals and found out that their opponent would be the Hakushu Dinosaurs, who has a tendency of sending quarterbacks to the hospital.
All in all, Eyeshield 21: Seijuro Shin vs. Sena Kobayakawa is a wonderful continuation to a new series that seems intriguing and I cannot wait to read more.
