On the flight to LA, they meet 'auteur of the future' Rick McCartney. Rick's trying to get the backing to make a costume drama set in seventeenth-century England about a man who owns what he fears is the last dodo on earth.
Dorothy Cadwallader's quest for fame begins badly and goes downhill from there. Meanwhile Henry becomes involved with a former actress turned estate agent. The lives of Henry and Dorothy once again intersect with that of Rick McCartney to dramatic effect as the characters find themselves drawn to the brink, where dreams die and extinction threatens.
Sharp humor and keen observation drive Geoff Nicholson's satisfyingly oblique look at America's obsession with stardom.

This is a good book.It's ridiculous -is what it is. The plot is just absurd -all good clean fun.
The writer -Geoff Nicholson-is just having a good time.Weaving a ridiculous plot.
I'm putting my 2 cents in because I'm puzzled as to why there are only 2 other reviews on Goodreads /
Did it not get distributed? But what i'm really puzzled about is why was the Kirkus review so damn
mean spirited? They called it "Pretentious"????? This book is about as pretentious as an Archie comic.
There's no grave inner meaning here.No higher learning to be had.
Why are these reviewers going for his jugular?
The plot may be ridiculous- but he- the writer follows thru.He does not leave anything hanging -or suspended in mid air.He writes well.He's funny.The characters are all very much their own people.
I'll say it again.This is a Good book-period.JM
