The Melting Of Molly (Illustrated Edition)
This is a very cute story about a young widow woman who, on finding that her girlhood love is coming to town, quickly tries to lose thirty pounds so she can fit into the dress she wore when he left.
Meanwhile, the doctor's little boy gets more and more attached to her and her feelings become confused as men of the town try to woo her.
And there's the doctor himself, the one who put her on this fool diet to begin with. Will her ever look on her as more than a patient?
I think my favorite part in the story is when the doctor is passing by her window as she's getting ready to gorge herself on bread, butter and jam. In the end they chow down together. I liked him very well at that point. :)
Similar in vein to a modern "love inspired" romance but of course this was written at the turn of the century. Quick read, as enjoyable as a cream filled chocolate.
