Personal Response: While I knew a bit about apartheid policies I was by no means very knowledgeable about this period of history. This book was very informative and did attempt to give both sides of the issue, while firmly coming down for the side of equality. I thought that the use of actual letters, experiences and speeches was well done and helped give a more complete picture of the issue.
Curriculum: I think this would be a good source to use in a teaching unit about apartheid, or race relations in general for grades 5 and up.
