Sometimes I like to curl up in a ball
So no one can see me
because I'm so small.

A new format for the hugely praised bestseller.
Little wombat spends a day doing favorite things-what could they be? Are they your favorites, too? Let's look and see. Soft-toned illustrations portray an endearing little wombat and the warm and friendly world around him. Every page is filled with charming details that stand up to repeated viewings: cute mice, rabbits, and turtles peering from behind tall grass, marching pigeons, and a menagerie of other adorable animals. The images, along with the lyrically rhyming text, combine to make a sweet-spirited bedtime story to ease young ones to sleep.

Marilyn Courtot - Children's Literature

Little wombat is really enjoying life. He jumps up high and sees just how much noise he can make by landing with a thud and sometimes screaming as loud as he can. The reaction of the creatures around him as they scatter in all directions shows how successful he is. On other days wombat is quiet and walks around and even stands still, but on other days he sticks out his tongue, makes funny faces and plays in the mud. Like most toddlers he runs like crazy to use up that energy, but when nighttime comes, he heads for "somewhere soft, somewhere cozy and small...." and the last scene shows him curled up like a ball next to his mama who has a contented smile on her face. Toddlers and their parents will have no trouble relating to this delightful board book. 2003 (orig. 2001), Sterling, Ages 1 to 3.
