Sundqvist (science and technology studies, Göteborg U., Sweden) provides a study of the highly controversial decisions about how and where to dispose of nuclear waste in Sweden, and develops a theoretical perspective for explaining the siting process. Topics include the relationship between science and policy, and constructivist perspectives; pre-history of Sweden's nuclear waste; changing definitions of waste; the role of geologists; and the construction of controversies and consensus.
