American Dreaming: The Odyssey of Yew Book

With his mortgage in arrears, perennial dreamer Ulysses Endymion "Yew" Wynn feels compelled to save his small farm from foreclosure and his parents from penury by signing what he thinks is a fortuitous land lease but whose CATCH-22-like catches soon thrust Yew into a sort of indebted servitude to--and the paternalistic tutelage of--the world's richest man and its most overenthusiastic capitalist, a rather engaging, P.T. Barnum-like dream merchant whose seemingly innocuous, often hilarious, and more often dangerous schemes ensnare Yew in a tragicomic contemporary odyssey and whose wild and hair-raising episodes nearly kill Yew several times over and eventually make him poorer in pocketbook and yet richer in character.
