This is a substantially enlarged edition of Coomaraswamys "Essays on Hinduism and Buddhism" originally published in 1943. It incorporates the authors authentic revisions. The author opines that Hinduism is the oldest of the surviving mystery religions whose formulations are essentially the same as those of Platonism, Christianity, Taoism and other traditional doctrines. According to him Buddhism is not a "New" religion, but rather a reiteration, with different emphasis, of the same teachings, that are to be found in ancient Vedas.
