In this controversial book, former theology professor turned social activist Dr. Hycel B. Taylor II calls for a new African-American liberation movement equal to the Civil Rights movement led by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. "This new revolution," he claims, "should be waged with explosive power and revolutionary force against a terrorizing enemy embedded deep within African-American's spirits." That spiritual enemy manifests its ruinous force most painfully in the self-destructive behavior found in the ghettoes and rural areas of America, but more subtly and insidiously in the lives and work places of the black middle class. Taylor argues that the cause of this pathological divisiveness was the same used to domesticate black slaves—and which was designed to have continuous, crippling, generational effects. Taylor's solution is a new liberation movement. He calls upon African-Americans in every academic discipline and artistic medium to marshal their forces to strike against what he calls "the enemy within." Says Taylor, "It is not a hate white people book; rather it is a love black people book. The book proposes to African-Americans the strategy of attaining equality of power-relations as their first priority, i.e., power equity and parity, as a means to the end of equality of race relations . . ."
