Pages of Michigan Press Women are filled with advice given by professional members of the press. They illustrate changes in reporting and editing by women through the years while recording the history of three Michigan women's groups: Michigan Press Women, 1965 to present; Michigan Women's Press Club, 1892; Michigan Women's Press Association, 1890. A Detroit News columnist wrote: "Recommended reading as a treasured collection of the state's notable woman journalists..." The book won the 1999 Martha Rayne Award for research about media history given by the Michigan Journalism Hall of Fame.
