This book continues the exploration of two dimensions began in Universal Patterns. In the first chapter, readers are introduced to the notion of the grid and its function. The second chapter describes the symmetry operations of the point, line, and plane groups. Symmetry becomes the underlying concept that threads through the remaining chapters on Circles, Tilings, and Fractals. The last chapter, the Pliable Plane, is the lead into three dimensions.

The surface plane
Basically, low rating because it was not what I hoped for. The cosmological stuff did nothing for me; I am more interested in practical applications of the design. Was grateful I got this book through interlibrary loan; it is perfect for someone, just not for me.
