This volume from the "Incidents in the American Civil War" series contains the edited battle reports of two Confederate and four Union commanding officers at the Battle of Shiloh in 1862. Featured are reports by G. T. Beauregard, General, CSA, and U. S. Grant, Major General, USA. Other reports are by Generals Bragg (CSA), Sherman (USA), and Buell (USA), and by Lieutenant W. Gwin (USN) commanding the gunboat Tyler. The volume also includes Special Orders No. 8, which set the Confederate Army of the Mississippi in motion towards Shiloh, dispatches between Beauregard and Grant, and a report of casualties. Illustrations include three period maps, six portraits, and eight etchings. Preface by John F. Wakefield.
