Introduction to Korean History and Culture Book

This is really a 2.5 star book, mostly because it's so dated. Originally written before Korea had even joined the OECD, it definitely covers Koran History although the Culture parts seem almost an afterthought to the chapters. Also, it can be a bit hard to read since it uses an older version of romanization than the current Revised Romanization currently put in place by the Korean government. It could definitely use an increase in the number and quality of maps and graphics, especially in the pre-Choseon-period chapters where it's not clear exactly where different Kingdoms were located and how far they extended in comparison to modern day Korea. However, since it was written before Korea had risen to the exalted state it has managed to accomplish in the past 20 years or so, it really misses out on talking about all the more modern aspects of Korean history that many readers might be looking for.
