Before blogging, there was Uncle Al Sicherman in the Minneapolis paper. Weekly, for 18 or so years, we were all enchanted by tales of lost funnels, car repairs, Little Debbie Nutty bars, dogs and daily life. I was saddened by the loss of his son Joe as a college freshman, having just learned I was pregnant with my first. It's been great to go back and laugh out loud, from a slightly older perspective, at Uncle Al's alarmingly normal life and descent, as he says "into mental cottage cheese". There are days I feel like I'm right behind him!
