Social science in government Book

Tells the story of welfare reform in America over the past three decades with an emphasis on contributions made by social scientists to this issue. This is an updated version of a book published by Basic Books in 1988. This edition contains five new chapters, including a final chapter on the limits and possibilities of applied social science. There is new case material focusing on major public policy issues and highlighting applied social science research in welfare reform and related employment programs and social services.
