A poetic perspective on how to stop counting the years and start living them. With sharp wit, Natasha Josefowitz shares her experiences in this collection of memories, thoughts, and feelings. This book exposes wrinkles in their true light - as hands-on living day by day. Feeding grandchildren, learning to use a computer, forgetting where you put things, keeping up in a fast paced society, mature love, old shoes, vitamins, and finally accepting yourself for who you are. It is a personal account of one person's life, to be shared with many people. This book will teach you to be strong and proud because of what you have learned and experienced in life.
This witty collection is a great gift for an older role model in your life. Or, it's a great gift for yourself if you fit this description! Treat yourself and others to years worth of laughter as you recall similar experiences.
Sample poem:
It's Comforting and It's Not
As I grow older
my children are beginning to act
as if they were my parents
They ask whether
I take my vitamins
worry when I have a sniffle
scold me when I get overly tired
call if they haven't heard from me
and generally are beginning to act
as if they were my parents
It's comforting and it's not
For as much as I mind
becoming my mother's mother
I mind becoming my children's child
-Natasha Josefowitz
My Grandson and the Puppy
At first
when my two-year-old grandson
came to stay with us
he was scared of our puppy
and shrieked when she came near
I was afraid
the puppy might bite our grandson
Then
my grandson became bolder
He started teasing the puppy
was more aggressive
and hit her with his toys
I became afraid
My grandson might bite our puppy
- Natasha Josefowitz
