Alice And Eleanor
This novel compares and contrasts Alice and Eleanor, first cousins in the Roosevelt family. Alice, daughter of Teddy Roosevelt, lives life by her own rules. Her father is quoted as saying he could run the country or Alice, but he couldn't do both. Eleanor, on the other hand, was Alice's polar opposite: shy and passive. However, both were intimately connected to the Presidency and politics and general for almost fifty years.
This books starts out slow, and I wondered if I would get into it, but it really draws you in. The characters are well described and insightful comparisons are made by the author.
