Life span Book

Based on a series of papers presented at a May 2001 workshop held on the Greek island of Santorini, this book supplements v.29 (2003) of Population and Development Review. The workshop aimed to bring togeher scientsts from demography, evolutionary biology, and field ecology and to encourage their interaction with regard to the biodemography of aging and longevity. Fourteen contributions (revised and refined from their original presentation at the workshop) address aging in connection with large herbivorous mammals, Drosophila melanogaster, and birds, as well as such topics as the environment and longevity, economics and the human life span, human survival beyond age 100, world trends, and hazard curves.
