3.5 stars. The essay by Broch is suggestive and quite interesting, though not definitive in any way. The introductory study by Dorfles is also interesting, though inconclusive - and a bit dated and stiff in translation. After a while, the text of this book got a bit tedious - but a review of the wonderful photos, showing instances of kitsch in all spheres of life -- from politics to birth to funerary to advertising to pornokitsch - are illuminating, and make the point more clearly than the text itself. Worth an evening of deep browsing.
