Hiking the Wasatch Book

Despite being called the "Backpacker Magazine's Guide", there is very little information about backpacking or even hiking in this book. Instead it talks about the history and science of the trial itself. It talks about how the land was formed and how the trail was made. It talks about the routes the trail has followed over the years and how and why sections have been moved. It goes into detail about the geology, forestry, elevation, and such. Overall, I found it to be a very boring and dry read. The maps are a joke and not at all practical. The 3 or 4 pictures are grainy black and white photos of people, there are none of the trail itself. Also, important to note is that the book is organized as if you were heading southbound not northbound.
