Wolf in the Midnight Forest Book

Robert is a sensitive and astute third or fourth grade student. He strives for both fun and fairness in his adventures. Robert takes the reader on several escapades as he progresses through the school year. He is a pirate named Stinky Pete in the school play, he protects the new hearing impaired student, has his bike stolen and manages to forge a friendship that allows him to win a science competition. He likes school and enjoys being around his classmates. Robert is an all-around likeable character. A particularly interesting part of the story concerns the new girl with a hearing impairment. Robert treats her condition with realistic compassion. He wonders what it would be like to be hard of hearing and he protects her from the female bully in class. Robert is a friend that any child would like to have.
