Author Biography: Colin Thiele is Australia's most distinguished writer for children and has been a leading award-winning author for over forty years. His books have sold in multiple editions around the world, and have been made into films, TV series, plays and picture books over the last three decades. He has published more than 100 books in his career, including the multi-award-winning Storm Boy, The Sun on the Stubble and Blue Fin. He has won numerous Australian and international awards over the years; most recently a Special Award from the NSW Premier's Awards (1997), the Dromkeen Medal (1998) and an Honorary Doctorate from the University of SA (1999). His previous Lothian books are Jodie's Journey, Landslide, Wendy's Whale, With Dew on my Boots, The Sea Caves and Pannikin and Pinta.
About the Illustrator: Peter Gouldthorpe is one of Australia's most prominent children's book illustrators. His book Hist! was shortlisted for the 1992 CBC Children's Picture Book of the Year, and he was also shortlisted for Grandad's Gifts in 1993. Peter recently received the International IBBY Honour Diploma (Australia) 1996 as well as an inaugural Australia Council grant for book illustration. First Light, by Gary Crew, was awarded CBC Children's Picture Book of the Year in 1994 and The Lost Diamonds of Killiecrankie, also a collaborative effort with Gary Crew, was a CBC notable book in 1996
