This book explores the rhetorical traditions and legacy left by Francis Bacon, focusing upon his ambiguous attitude towards the use of metaphorical and partisan language in scientific discourse. It argues that Bacon did not separate science and art; rather, he conceptualized a unique relationship between the two by creating an experiential "logic" whereby nature was allowed to shape and fashion the perceiving mind of the empirical witness and observer.
