What Is Truth? Book

The authors give powerful parallels between the liturgy (Anglican) and the therapeutic process. The metaphor used by one of the authors about the vicarage (house they lived in at the parish) is incredible. I approached the book from a pastoral counselor point of view, not a priest or minister perspective, and found that it gave me great insight into the Mystery that is present in the counseling relationship. It left me with a deeper respect of priests/ministers as I understand a bit better how much they truly have to sacrifice and give of themselves for others by nature of their vocation. Also, I have a deeper respect for my own vocation as counselor as I realize how truly sacred a gift it is to sit with someone in his or her brokenness and, with that, I have a renewed sense of responsibility to my clients. "Disturbed by Mind & Spirit" was extremely eye-opening to the Mystery that is omnipresent in our brokenness.
