Women Who Changed the Heart of the City : The Untold Story of the City Rescue Mission Movement Book

Prominent in this movement were courageous, yet seldom recognized, women who tackled the worst social problems of the day while maintaining a household, raising children, and supporting their husbands' ministries. Some of the individuals included in this collection are Francis Nasmith, the early rescue pioneer in 1826, Mary McAuley, former prostitute and co-founder of the first U.S. mission, Emily Trotter, the mother who prayed for her son, Mel Trotter, and Fanny Crosby, who devoted herself for over 20 years to rescue mission work from age 60 until her death.
