Poverty Reduction and Growth: Virtuous and Vicious Circles
While Wicker's book on the Gilded Age was poorly done and rather scattered, this book is a tour de force. prof Wicker has done everything right in this one and it's a shame that the editor did not fulfill his part of the bargain and proofread for the various typos and grammar mistakes in it. He discusses the various other writers (Peter Temin, Milton Friedman & Anna Schwartz -- both of whom he argues against profusely because of Temin's jumping to conclusions with econometric data and F&S's wrong judgements on their data that Wicker believes are not substantiated) here as he did in the GA, but this time he gives us much more information about their writings, often excerpting their words, instead of assuming we are familiar with them.
Lots of charts and data, I must admit I learnt a lot here from Prof Wicker...and yes i know I said i would never read another again after the GA, I took out both books and it was a rainy Sunday and so I decided, hey why not? I am glad I did.
