4.5 stars. Of all the English-language resources on Jansenism I've seen, this one is the best comprehensive source on the movement as it existed in France. My only complaint was that, occasionally, the author did not seem sufficiently familiar with Catholic theology prior to the Reformation. Otherwise, "Suffering Saints" has it all--the intellectual beginnings of the movement, the Port-Royal nuns, the schools, the convulsionists, and more.
