As We Grow Old: How Adult Children and Their Parents Can Face Aging with Candor and Grace Book

I read this book in preparation for an upcoming event for work, but as I read I was also reflecting on my experience with both of my parents as they experienced their issues related to health and aging, and as each eventually passed away, and on my experience now with my in-laws who are also now beginning to experience their own sets of difficulties. The book was, in many ways, true to my lived experience; I suggested to my husband that he may want to think about reading it as well to help him better understand what his parents may be experiencing. The target audience is both "adult parents" and "adult children"--in other words, it is aimed at elders and at their children as well. As an adult child and child-in-law, I found it helpful both in confirming my past experience but also shoring me up for the current situation with my husband's family.

The book is written from a Christian perspective and, while it primarily addresses issues that any adult and adult child might face regardless of their faith stance, it does contain segments directly related to Christian spirituality.

I will be putting this book on the "recommended reading" list for our upcoming event--it is a very good resource.
